are you happy? depends on how old you are

Mar 01, 2013 -- 11:12am

A new study just came out from the UK on happiness...and found out that on average, a person is happy when they're young....reach the nadir of unhappiness at around 45...then start to get happy again and continue to get happier the older we get.    It's a big U-shaped curve.     So, where are you on the curve?   Me?   I'm finally on my way up after passing 45 a few years ago.       Do you buy it?     I'm assuming that younger people are happy because they don't have as many worries, or just don't care, but the study mainly focuses on the older portion of society.   They say that as we get older we may have the smae problems as the younger set, but we're better able to cope.     The sad part is that they also say that as we age, our expectations of life continue to lower, so we don't get disappointed quite as much.   In other words, we give up on our dreams and settle for what we have.     Is that trade-off okay with you?   You can settle and be happy, or continue to dream and face adversity.    Your choice.
