Crossing the Border

May 03, 2013 -- 10:19am

I'm crossing into the Canadian border this weekend...can't wait to get a fresh stamp on my's been a while.

I am taking the Spirit Airlines flight into the Niagara Falls/Toronto area tomorrow morning so I thought I'd share with you my itinerary.

When we (my husband Jeff and I) land we're renting a car and making the beautiful drive up to Toronto from Niagara Falls. I hear it's a great drive with wineries along the way - lots to explore! Once we arrive in Toronto we are checking in to the Hotel Le Germain Maple Leaf Square. I hear this is one of the best places to stay because it's in the heart of all the tourist activity! I'm making sure to see the CN Tower and take the ride up to get a spectacular view of the city! From there - we're catching the ferry to Toronto Island and renting some bikes to tour around and see the little markets and shops. We have reservations at Weslodge for dinner Saturday night. I hear this a great place not only for its food but for the scene (wear black, I'm told). On Sunday, it's brunch at Le Select (french bistro) and on to the Toronto Blue Jays game at 1:05 p.m. I'm looking forward to seeing a pro baseball game (with hot dog in hand, of course)! After the game we'll be taking a stroll around Kensington Market and Millionaire Row. We have dinner planned at Sassafraz on Sunday night. Then it's off to bed - we have an early start on Monday. Monday morning we have tickets to go see Niagara Falls on Maid of the Mist. The 30 minute tour takes you right up to the Falls by boat. This is one of the things I'm most excited about experiencing!

I share all this info with you in case you are looking to explore the area as well in the future - or if you have already been - here's some notes for the next time you go!
